We all know the saying: behind every great man, there’s a great woman. In the case of Vince Young, the greatest quarterback in Texas football history, his great woman stands directly beside him. Her name is Candice Young.
Meet Candice
Candice and Vince’s story goes all the way back to when she was 16. They were high school sweethearts, and while you could say Candice “followed” Vince to the University of Texas, her scholastic credentials and post-collegiate success suggest she would’ve been going there regardless! It is the best academic public university in Texas after-all. ;)

My husband worked with Candice when he was an intern at JP Morgan a couple years ago. He only loosely knew her since he was in a different department, but she had a glowing reputation in the office and among clients.
If I were to put her resume into football terms, she would be a super-blue-chip, 5-star ++, unanimous 1st round draft pick EASILY! I’m honestly laughing and seriously judging my own career after looking at her resume! Some of her “HUDL” highlights, if you will:
The University of Texas: Bachelor of Science (BS) Corporate Communications, Presidential Scholar, 2002.
Vanderbilt: MBA in Marketing & Strategy (presumably while Vince was playing for the Tennessee Titans… maybe something to be answered in the documentary)
Series 66 & Series 7 FINRA Licenses: Candice now offers her financial & leadership expertise through her boutique consulting agency, The Couture Solution.
Houston Business Journal’s 40 Under 40: Selected based on professional accomplishments, community involvement, philanthropic efforts, and other exemplary qualities.
If that ain’t a ‘girl boss’ resume, I don’t know what is! In all seriousness, my favorite thing I learned about Candice while researching this piece has nothing to do with her amazing career.
Vince revealed on Johnny Manziel’s ‘Glory Daze’ podcast at the end of 2024 that it was Candice who encouraged him to contact his estranged father. She identified the relationship — or lack thereof — was a trigger for VY, and supported him as he reconnected with his dad and sought therapy treatment (video linked below, skip to 6:42 for audio clip).
Vince’s statements on the podcast circuit the past couple years feel like just a tiny taste of what we will learn soon.
5 Years in the Making
On August 25th, Netflix will release Untold: The Testimony of Vince Young. Candice has been vocal of her part in the making of the documentary, and how she is feeling as the premiere date draws closer:
We’re excited to finally share what we’ve been working on for the past five years…
This documentary tells a story that’s bigger than football. It’s about the journey, the highs and lows, the resilience it takes to keep moving forward, and the people who have been there through every chapter. It’s about family, legacy, and the city of Houston that has always been a part of who we are.
We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who helped bring this story to life and to everyone who has supported us over the years. We can’t wait for you to experience this chapter with us.
I haven’t been able to confirm ‘Candice Young’ in the Netflix producer credits, but Candice’s company, ‘Candid Entertainment’ may be tied to it in ways the official credits don’t reflect.
Based on her own words, social media posts, and the behind-the-scenes info she has shared, it’s clear she has been closely involved with this project from the very beginning. It feels like we will get the Youngs’ truth, at long last.
In the words of Candice:
You’re about to see more to the story that’s been kept close for a long time.
Just over 2 weeks until the full testimony is shared. I can’t wait.
Until then, Hookem!
— Michelle
